U16 Footballers Unlucky!! (23/04/08)
U16’s just lose out in thriller against St.Paul’s

A one point defeat is hard to take at any time, but when you have had a seven point cushion within the first fifteen minutes its even harder. Kilclief U16’s went out on a mission in the park last night against a highly rated physical St Paul’s team and almost came away with the points but were let down by possession being given away at crucial times. In defence Danny Savage was called upon to make several point blank saves, Rurai McErlean held a steady ship despite enormous pressure and Sean Cultra was as usual, solid and tenacious. Gareth McVeigh never stopped cleaning up loose ball and Liam Curran battled well throughout, but full credit to Jordan Curran and Owen Curran who took their scores beautifully. If the supply to the forward line had been as consistent as the first fifteen minutes Kilclief would have walked this match. As it was too many unforced errors let St Paul’s win by the narrowest of margins due to our mistakes rather than their skill. However, there is heart to be taken from such a display and manager Rory Sharvin praised the effort put in, but also emphasised the need to be disciplined about turning up to training to avoid repeat performances like last night.
