SENIOR CAMOGIE: Players meeting on Sunday, 8th January 2012 @ 5pm in Kilclief Clubrooms. All new and returning players welcome. Karen Price is the new PRO for the camogie club. Best wishes to all the camogie members for the coming year.
FOOTBALL : An historic season for the club ended in Bright on Sunday 4th December when the Senior Footballers saw off the challenge of Carryduff to add the league title to their Intermediate Championship crown. The game itself was an exciting contest and both teams should be praised for the quality of football served up at this time of year. County vice-chairman William James Smith was on hand to present the League trophy to team captain Jonny Hanvey, who thanked every man, woman and child for their support this season.
AGM: The well attended Annual General Meeting heard the reports from the club officers of a remarkable year both on and off the field. The excellent team performances in winning the Intermediate Championships in Football and Hurling with the footballers also winning promotion to Division 2 next year were some of the highlights in the reports from the secretary, Mary Clarke and Chairman Declan McFall. There was a well received financial report from the Treasurer, Malachy Sharvin and the members were encouraged to continue their support for the club lotto and the Down Club Draw which commences in January.
The new committee elected at the club AGM is; President - Fr Colm McGrady PP, Chairman - Declan McFall, Vice Chairman - Stephen McShane Secretary - Mary Clarke, Assistant Secretary - Pat Watterson, Treasurer - Malachy Sharvin, Assistant Treasurer - Jackie Maguire, PRO - Jerome Sharvin. Additional committee; Conor Sloan, Colleen Reilly, Martin Sharvin, Jonathan Hanvey.

DOWN YEAR BOOK: Available from Mary Clarke or Kevin Og’s Shop Price £10. Some excellent reviews of the year in Down and plenty of photos with Kilclief well to the fore.
CONVENTION: Four delegates attended the Wednesday night AGM for the Down County Board. No big changes were announced. Sean Rooney has stood down as Fixtures Secretary due to the 5 year rule and the former East Down Chairman Paul Blaney was elected Leas Runai. The proposal to disband the Hurling Board did not get the necessary 2/3rd majority. In the Chairman’s address he highlighted the feats of Burren, Down Football champions , Carryduff as Minor hurling Champions and Kilclief for achieving the treble. Int. Hurling, Int. Football and Div 3 league Champions. It was well into the wee small hours when Gerard, Stephen Declan and Pat made it home and still the discussions were going on when we left.
CONGRATULATIONS: To Gerard McShane who recently stepped down as Runai of the Hurling committee after serving that body since the early eighties. Also stepping down was former Kilclief man Michael Conway who will be sorely missed for his organisation of the juvenile hurling competitions. Well done and thanks to both men.
CLUB DINNER: The Annual Dinner and Presentations will take place in the Burrendale Hotel, Newcastle on Saturday 28th January. Bookings with Mary or Colleen from 1st January.
A HAPPY PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE |
